Current Workshops Restorative Yoga Workshop August 15, 2010 Stress is the cause of over 95% of illness. Take this opportunity to come and slow down, pause, treat yourself with tenderness, and softness. Restorative Yoga is the use of props to support the body in positions of openness and ease to facilitate healing and relaxation. There are pending studies showing that Restorative Yoga lowers blood pressure and cholesterol, improves sleep, eases anxiety, stimulates metabolism, boosts the immune system, and give the practitioner a warm fuzzy feeling. Different from active styles of Yoga, Restorative Yoga is about residing in stillness, opening and not stretching, and introspective work on the self. The workshop will begin with some Gentle Slow Flow to warm up and prepare the body for stillness. Class will include Pranayama, long Restorative poses with individual attention to each student. Students will learn how to set themselves up in restorative poses. The class will end with Yoga Nidra, deep rest. Open to all, injuries accommodated Download the class flyer (.pdf document) Laughter Yoga Thursdays, September 9th and 16th at 7:30 pm Laughter makes us feel happy, gives us energy, and stimulates the immune system.
